Mark 2: 1-12절

And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house. And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them. And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay. When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee. But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only? And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts? Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?  But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)  I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house. And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.

Jesus said to the paralyzed thy sins be forgiven thee. " The paralyzed man came to heal, why did Jesus say this? The Jews thought that this man blasphemed divinity. The Jews thought: Only God can forgive sins. The Jews think that Jesus insults God because Jesus say that he has the power to forgive sins,

For "Jesus sees their faith," church believers think: because the paralyzed man had earnest faith, he was healed. So, they say, "If we pray earnestly, the problem will be solved." Jesus saw the faith of the paralyzed man. There is a difference between the faith of the paralytic that Jesus saw and the belief of the church people today.

Jesus was the Messiah, who was waiting for the Israelites. They were waiting for the Messiah for a long time, so Jesus had hope for them. The expectation is for Israel to recognize and welcome the Messiah. But Israel does not realize the Messiah. While waiting for the Messiah, there was no earnest faith in the Messiah.

The centurion's faith is introduced in Matthew (8:10), a centurion who was a Roman soldier. In order to be treated for his servant's illness, he eagerly came to Jesus. However, he believed that even if Jesus did not come to himself, he would heal the servant's illness.『 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. 』

Matthew said, "The centurion came directly to Jesus." Luke said, "Sent with the Jewish elders." Says in Luke 7: 4-5.『And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this: For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue.』

The centurion must have provided much support for the Jews. Thus, the centurion would have heard of the Messiah from the Jews and had confidence that Jesus was the Messiah. So, the centurion burdened Jesus as coming to his house as a Gentile. The main thing Jesus is saying is that Israel should have this faith, but it does not.

The faith that Jesus saw in the paralytic is the same as that seen in the centurion. The centurion's faith is waiting for the Messiah. It is faith that waits and believes in the promise that God has spoken. Jesus saw this belief in a paralyzed man. Jesus said that there is judgment, mercy, and faith in the law. Faith in the law refers to the faith of finding Christ, the one who can save from sin, and eagerly awaiting the Messiah. Jesus saw that belief in a paralyzed man.

The paralyzed man was unable to move on his own and was unable to move unless someone helped him. The paralytic is not just coming to heal the body. He came to cure the paralysis, but his purpose was to meet the Messiah, who had been there for a long time. Says in Galatians (3: 23-24).『 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 』 The Bible expresses: In the law, those who did not have faith (the revelation) waiting for the Messiah did not come to faith. To those who have faith waiting for the Messiah in the law, that law is an elementary teacher, leading to Christ.

The paralyzed man found the Messiah in the Law, and at last he met the Messiah in a house on the grounds of a paralyzed man.Jesus saw their faith. Jesus knew that “the paralyzed man came to see that Jesus the Messiah fulfilled God's promise.”

Jesus said, "Forgiveness of your sins." This is what Jesus said after seeing this paralyzed faith.The same story is introduced in Mark (10: 46-47)『 And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimæus, the son of Timæus, sat by the highway side begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. 』 The blind man knew Jesus as the Messiah. When Jesus asked, "What do you want?" He answered, "I want to see." The Bible says in Mark (10:52).『And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way. 』 Here too, faith is the belief that Bodymeo awaits the Messiah.

Likewise, a 12-year-old Samaritan woman who had suffered from blood pressure was told of Jesus. So, she thought that
"If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole." while Jesus was passing by.  She touched Jesus' clothes. The Bible says in Mark (5:27).『When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. 』 Her illness is sick.

The Bible says in Mark (5:34).『When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. 』 Here too, faith is faith related to salvation. She was a stranger, but she heard about Jesus. Jesus is the Messiah. Israel was a model of the world. But in God's eyes Israel failed. Rather, the Bible tells people that salvation is being passed on to the Gentiles.

“Forgiveness of Your Sins” For these words of Jesus, the scribes did not think that the paralytic was forgiven. It is incredible. So it was more difficult for them to say, "Your sins are forgiven," than to say, "Get up and walk." Jesus said, "But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins". Let's say this, "Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house." In this way the scribes and the people gathered there became afraid of Jesus and realized that the power of God had come upon Jesus. "But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins" means that the Son of Man came to the world to forgive sins.
